The Economist Group is the leading source of analysis on international business and world affairs. We deliver our information through a range of formats, from newspapers and magazines to conferences and electronic services.

Currently we are seeking a dynamic writer to tell our brand and sub brand stories and create the narrative around our product offerings. Confident and versatile—you can effortlessly flex between clever, concise copywriting and longer-form content writing. You will be responsible for crafting engaging copy that inspires and informs our audiences across different output channels including email, websites, social media, and product. 

You will collaborate closely with your immediate team, the broader division and other key stakeholders. You will develop messaging for various audiences, channels and stages of the customer journey. You will be a born listener with developed people skills and a high degree of emotional intelligence.

The role requires an excellent eye for grammatical detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects at once with fast turnarounds. You will need to have a proven creative track record with a logical outlook on creative process and problem solving.


How you will contribute:

  • Write engaging content across all brands and touchpoints
  • Present rationale to key stakeholders while working with their feedback
  • Work collaboratively in a way that supports and develops the creative team 
  • Enforce a consistent brand voice across all communications
  • Review copy and creative, checking for context, spelling, syntax and tone 
  • Develop content for all digital properties and webpages
  • Manage feedback from creative reviews, update and pivot based on business needs
  • Be adept at proofreading copy for clarity, accuracy and consistency 
  • Maintain a project schedule to ensure on-time delivery of work.

Experience, skills and professional attributes

The ideal skills for this role are:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, journalism or related communications field
  • 5+ years’ copywriting and editing experience
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal with fluency across digital and social channels
  • Proven experience in both short-form and long-form copy; research-led writing an advantage
  • A nuanced understanding of best practice in digital and print media
  • Team motivated with the ability to multitask, adapt and re-prioritise
  • Detail driven: highly organised and meticulous 
  • Solid time management skills: ability to keep multiple projects moving forward simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong relationship-building skills; ability to work with a variety of people including subject-matter experts and cross-functional teams
  • Positive attitude: a sense of humor
  • Curious: able to identify and articulate new approaches to communication
